This adventure of trying to be healthy is already turning out well in my humble opinion. Everything starts from Tuesday, January 13, 2015 when I first met with the Medical Weight Loss team at Lahey. From that very day I have been wholly conscientious as to how much I eat, what I eat, and how much I move so I’m not just sitting in one spot all day long.
Using both my Fitbit Charge and MyFitnessPal has begun to maximize my weight loss already. Today is day 15. I have lost 9.3 pounds from within that time. My personal goal is to lose 5% of my body weight before I see the doctor again on February 26. I think I’ll be able to do it!
So, what have I changed? My calorie intake has been cut down by 1/3-1/2 if calories I used to consume. I was eating between 2000-3000 calories or more per day easily. It was all in starchy carbohydrates, sugary snacks, junk food, and severely large portions. Now, I consume between 1000-1500 calories per day and have more frequently been on the lower side of that range.
But aren’t I hungry? Nope. I noticed the change immediately. I haven’t entirely given up my carbs, but protein is a huge factor in my daily life now. I have already set up a schedule for eating. It fluctuates based on my day but roughly goes like this. Breakfast 6:30AM/7:00AM, snack 9:30AM, lunch 12:00PM, snack 2:30PM, snack 4:00PM, dinner 7:00PM. Each snack is something with protein, little or no sugar. Each meal has a strong protein component. This keeps my blood sugar level and I have had no crashes. I don’t get hunger cravings as long as I stay roughly on that schedule.
Energy? Abundantly! Without having sugar highs and crashes, I can clean when I get home. I don’t crave a nap unless for some reason I get less than 6 hours of sleep per night, and I’ve been sleeping much better! I sleep more soundly, and I’d have to check with husband about my snoring.
The most amazing thing I’ve noticed, as soon as weight started coming off, is that I have no pain. No plantar fasciitis, no tendonitis in my ankle, no foot pain at all. My joints, knees and hips, don’t hurt. My lower back no longer hurts, and in 15 days, I have only had one headache which was pre-menstrual and expected. There have been no other headaches or migraines. I am stoked!
This adventure is truly well begun, and I look forward to what it can bring me health wise. Stay tuned for more results and feedback!
